In a previous blog post, we have written about our efforts as an agency to reduce our carbon emissions. Environmental awareness and taking positive action to address climate change is something that as a business we are all passionate about here at team Touch. In addition, we are always delighted to work with clients on their carbon reduction activities. Along these lines, it was a pleasure to partner up with Essex County Council again in helping produce a series of reports to publicise their environmental efforts aimed at a number of different important stakeholders.
The local authority, a long-established client of ours, asked us to design four 'action pack' publications for different audience groups – businesses, residents, early years and childcare providers, and schools. The advice packs contain a collection of key guidance, tips and information to help individuals, education, childcare providers and corporates cut their carbon emissions, reduce their impact on the environment and help improve long-term sustainability across Essex. The work is all based on the Essex Climate Action Commission which is advising the county of Essex on the key steps to get to net zero emissions by 2050. The action packs stress that tackling climate change is not down to one group or community to address. It is a responsibility for all the local population and only through collective action, will places like Essex be able to make a difference.
We were asked by the council to make best use of their supplied content, setting it out in the most engaging way for the respective audience, making it easy to follow and adding in nice touches of visual design such as pulling out statistics into infographics, highlighting top tips and showcasing case studies. As with all our work for local authorities and other public sector organisations, the documents have all been designed to adhere to best practice in accessibility.
